Having had previous experience working as a stage technician on big shows at all of London's top venues, Alex has a unique insight into the industry that most pianists will not have - being able to understand the client's philosophy and being able to convey that professionally in both his piano playing as well as in attire, mood, attitude etc.. on the night.
Alex is interested in more than just turning up, playing and getting paid. He can advise on what sort of music would be most appropriate, put together different combinations of musicians to form a band to suit the event and the client's budget, and would rather not do a gig where a DJ would be more appropriate.
Recent bookings include being booked by 'Mission' PR agency to accompany a gospel choir for a VIP event, the launch of a new brand of Belvedere vodka (other performers included Emeli Sande, Scott McFarnon and Brian Blessed). He also played a christmas party for a small but well known company at the Groucho Club in Soho, playing two solo piano sets followed by a duo set with a saxophonist - recordings here.
