Style and Repertoire
Alex is a jazz pianist, inspired by the likes of Art Tatum, Thelonius Monk, Bill Evans, Bud Powell and McCoy Tyner amongst others.
He can also play a few rock-pop tunes such as Beatles, soul and a mix of random stuff like Nirvana or Radiohead. In fact he was once hired to play two hours of Gary Numan hits for an event at an art gallery.
He plays a few classical pieces and has aspirations to learn a few more, but don't hire Alex if you need a cocktail pianist. He can however help you find a good one - give him a call.
As you can see from the repertoire list below, most of what Alex plays consists of jazz standards, in particular, the compositions of Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Wayne Shorter, Thelonius Monk, and many others such as George Gershwin, Cole Porter etc.
If there is a particular song that you would like to hear at your event that is not on the list below, Alex would be happy to learn it. This may be subject to an extra fee, however - please get in touch for more details.
Alex doesn't sight-read, but he can learn something from a score beforehand.
Below is a list of tunes that Alex can play. It is old and out of date but will be updated very soon with the new tunes that Alex has learned recently.
